Picture Postcard – San Francisco Bay
The Embarcadero in San Francisco offers stunning views of the Bay even on rainy days.
What once was a bustling sea port and a freeway has now become a 3 mile Historic District that faces the waterfront. The view here is near Rincon Park on the east end facing the Bay Bridge. The Embarcadero Freeway and the Bay Bridge were severely damaged in the 1989 earthquake. The Bridge was repaired and now has a public art light installation illuminating it after dark. The freeway was torn down and the land redeveloped to better connect residents and visitors to the Bay.
Watch for an upcoming series of posts highlighting public art in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Welcome to a series of travel postcards that I’ll be posting once a week. Click on the card for a larger view.
