Picture Postcard – Bonneville Salt Flats

This is the fastest place on earth. At least, in the dry season.

Bonneville Salt Flats on the western edge of Utah is used for testing experimental vehicles and setting land speed records. It’s vast expanse allows for safe deceleration from speeds approaching 500 miles per hour.  The annual World of Speed race allows for drivers of all descriptions a chance to go all out in this otherworldly basin.

Welcome to a new series of travel postcards that I’ll be posting once a week. Click on the card for a larger view.
