Picture Postcard – Reykjavik Iceland

We came in search of the Northern Lights.

The weather in Iceland had different ideas for us. Cloud cover and a wet snowfall meant that we explored Reykjavik’s neighborhoods finding delicious food, sharp political critiques via street art, along with blazing bonfires and endless fireworks to ring in the New Year.

The iconic sculpture, Sun Voyager (Solfar), is a dream boat. Overlooking the harbor it is an ode to the sun that was missing during our trip. I have dreams of returning to Iceland someday and experiencing those elusive lights.

Welcome to a new series of travel postcards that I’ll be posting once a week. Click on the card for a larger view.
