Picture Postcard – Sevilla Metropol Parasol
The world’s largest wooden structure is beautiful and of course, controversial with design changes and cost overruns.
Las Setas de la Encarnación (The Mushrooms) is the local nickname for Metropol Parasol, the building/art piece constructed in the heart of Sevilla’s old quarter. The different levels contain a museum featuring ruins discovered during construction, an open event plaza and a walkway up top. We visited just as the finishing touches were being completed in 2011 before the entire structure was open to the public as you can see by the crane in the background.
Welcome to a new series of travel postcards that I’ll be posting once a week. Click on the card for a larger view.
