Picture Postcard – South Beach
Sometimes a little vision can create phenomenal results.
Nearly forty years ago, the founding members of the Miami Design Preservation League fought to save the derelict Art Deco-styled buildings slated for demolition in Miami’s South Beach. The Winter Haven hotel is now an upscale boutique hotel along the world-famous, ultra-chic Ocean Drive.
The Preservation League continues it’s advocacy work, takes on projects, hosts events and walking tours. January brings the Art Deco Weekend celebrating all things Art Deco and all the South Beach has become – thanks to the vision of a few residents.
Welcome to a new series of travel postcards that I’ll be posting twice a week. Click on the card for a larger view.
