Picture Postcard – San Francisco
High atop Telegraph Hill stands Coit Tower. A monument to the city so loved by Lillian Hitchcock Coit.
Climbing up Telegraph Hill via neighborhood trails and stairways is a great way to enjoy the surrounding parkland in anticipation of the panoramic view of San Franciso at the top. For those less inclined to tackle the hill, busline #39 services the landmark or take your chances of finding a spot in the small parking lot. The Tower’s interior includes controversial murals commissioned by the WPA that speak to the politics of the Depression Era in this port city.
Welcome to a new series of travel postcards that I’ll be posting twice a week. Click on the card for a larger view.
